Life with a chatbot is pretty black and white; our handcrafted chatbots are made up with intents, entities, utterances, and dialogues, they are very logical.
Their ordered conversation is very unlike mine which often has multiple threads/thoughts active all at once; which means when I converse, I often go off on a tangent “I digress”.
Our Chatbots are based on logic, so how do we make them more humanistic.
By building in an ability to handle digression in your conversation service is key enabling the chatbot to deal with more; it also prevents your chat service from getting stuck and reduces the number of times your audience gets the dreaded response of “Can you rephrase that, I don’t understand”
This meetup focuses on the natural language of conversations, and how to deal with going off topic and digressing.
You will find out how to deal with a situation when your audience has more than one question/thought in their head – we will demonstrate how a chatbot can deal with a change of subject and then return the conversation to the original theme seamlessly! We will use IBM’s Watson Assistant to manage digression and deal with multiple topics of conversation!
