More UK young people are studying STEM subjects

Exasol, big data analytics firm, analysed UCAS data over the last 5 years and found:

The number of young people studying STEM subjects is up by 8.4%

The most popular STEM subject is Maths, and has increased by 11% and Further Maths by 22%

The proportion of women studying STEM subjects has increased slightly from 41.9% to 42.3%

Overall entries for A-level Computing have more than doubled in five years, and the number of women studying Computing has increased, but despite that, still only 9.8% of young people studying computing are girls.

Just before the results came out, KPMG published a survey of more than 1,000 university students:
